View Club AniMed announcements for the month of June
Club Animed - June

The temperature’s starting to rise and summer is officially starting. This month, our newsletter includes updates on Pet Sites (the newest way to get in touch with your veterinary team), tips on where to find dog-friendly beaches, and a new oral tick treatment called Simparica. Dive into summer with our announcements for the month of June.

Now, more ways to connect with your veterinary team!

Last month we announced our new Pet Sites App client portal. This portal allows you to view your pet’s records, submit a message to our staff, or submit a refill request for medication. You can access Pet Sites from the homepage of our website at or download the app here. You can also download the mobile app to use on your mobile device. Additionally, the Pet Sites integration allows us to send text messages as one of many communication tools. Text messaging and email reminders have been top requests from our clients. If you prefer to receive a text when your pet’s medication is ready, just let us know! We hope that having a new tool allows us to work together more effectively for the health of your pets. Check out our Facebook page for a handy walkthrough of the Pet Sites App.

Go for a swim! Take advantage of Michigan’s many dog beaches.

What is better than a day at the beach? A day at the beach with your dog!

We are lucky to live within driving distance of some excellent dog-friendly beaches. Not only are dog beaches fun for your pets, it’s a great place to meet a lot of dog people. Introducing your pet to water for the first time? Take it slow! Bring your pets favorite water-safe toys, and be ready to get wet too. Big waves can be intimidating for a lot of pets and you should always use caution on riptide days. Be prepared with baggies for cleaning up and sun umbrellas for hot rays. Never bring valuables or irreplaceable toys; it’s easy to lose something in water or sand. Plan on hours of fun, and we’ll see YOU at the beach!

Local dog beaches:

  • Kruse Park, along Lake Michigan in Muskegon. West on Sherman from US 31.
  • Grand Haven City Beach (new for 2017!) Not between the hours of 11-5.
  • Kirk Park in Ottawa county along Lake Michigan- State Park tag required during summer.
  • Check out this list of the state parks in Michigan that are dog-friendly.
  • Do you know of any other dog-friendly beaches? We would love to hear about them! Be sure to share your pictures on our Facebook page!
No more fleas or ticks with Simparica!

We are proud to introduce Simparica, a monthly, chewable flea and tick preventive available to our patients. Fleas and ticks are everywhere, spreading disease and parasites to our pets year-round. The advantage of an oral product like Simparica is there is no messy application to apply, and no worrying if you applied it correctly. Also, with Simparica, you don’t need to worry about bathing or swimming too much, like you would with a topical product. Oral products work from the day you administer to the end of the month. The best part is the price! Simparica costs less than traditional products, saving you money and allowing you to protect your pets longer. Simparica is for dogs 6 months or older, and is available in boxes of 3 or 6 with rebates.

Inside AMC

Welcome Dudley to the AMC pet family! Dr. Dykhouse added a new furry member to their family!

This month we welcome Kelsey to the AMC family! You may remember Kelsey as our Baker College intern in last month’s newsletter. She is finishing up her internship experience at the John Ball Zoo, pictured here on the left with their tech and bald eagle. After graduation, she’ll take a national board exam and state licensing requirements for Michigan to be a fully credentialed veterinary nurse at AMC. She has been a fantastic student and we are excited to have her aboard.

Our staff has started their third year playing in a local volleyball league. Our “Woofpack” is out to have some fun! Games are played weekly at The Score in Grand Rapids.

We are happy to announce that, for the first time ever, we will have an entry into the Grandville 4th of July parade! We are proud to be a part of this community. Many of us are from the area and have seen the parade every year. We are looking forward to being a part of this tradition.
